Catio Prowl — a day in the life of your cat
Be the cat. Explore a home and the catio built onto it: leap from perch to perch, knock things off the counter, find the toy mice, then slip through the window to watch the birds — and end the day napping in a sunbeam.
Free. No account, no ads, nothing to buy. Keyboard, mouse or touch — on a computer, tablet or phone.
One day, one to-do list
- Hop up to the window. Window seat, then the sill — the way out to the catio.
- Go out into the catio. Through the open window and onto the real catio’s ledge, shelves and floor.
- Reach the highest perch. Every shelf, ramp, bridge and hammock is where the planner would build it.
- Watch a bird. One lands outside now and then. Meow and it flies off.
- Knock things off the furniture. The mug, the remote, the cereal box. You’re a cat.
- Sharpen your claws. On the scratching post. The sofa is not a scratching post.
- Find the toy mice. On top of the fridge, behind the sofa, high in the catio.
- Drink and sniff the plants. Each plant tells you whether it’s safe for cats, from the same plant list the planner uses.
- Nap in a sunbeam. The perfect end to the day.
Real catios, from the planner
Every catio in the game is a real OpenCatio3D design: its shelves, ramps, bridges, beds and posts come from the same generator that writes the cut list, so a cat can stand exactly where a builder would fix a board. The yard stays out of reach — the cat can only be in the house and the catio, which is the whole point of a catio.
Pick a living room with a lean-to catio, a kitchen window box, or a walk-in garden catio at the end of a 12 ft mesh tunnel (out of the window, down the chute, along the tunnel and through the cat flap). Or open any catio you’ve designed: from the planner’s Output panel, choose “Play in Catio Prowl” and walk around your own design before you build it. Catios built over a window, or joined to one by a tunnel, come with a room behind them.
A game, not a safety check
Catio Prowl is for fun and for getting a feel for a layout — how high the perches are, whether a cat can get from one to the next. It isn’t a safety check: use the planner’s checks, measure your own site, and have a builder review the plan before you build.
