Why we are building OpenCatio3D
Catios let cats enjoy the outdoors while staying contained. Most are designed on the back of an envelope. We think they deserve the tools other building projects get.
What we believe
- Buildability over pretty pictures. Every serious object in a design carries dimensions, material, connections, cost and what it contributes to the build package.
- Guidance, not certification. Automated checks are kept clearly apart from engineering, veterinary, code, HOA and permit decisions.
- One project everywhere. The same project file opens in the web planner and the iPhone, iPad and Mac app.
- Sourced and original. Safety and plant information cites its sources; geometry and illustrations are our own.
- Friendly defaults, honest assumptions. Sensible starting points, with every assumption visible and changeable.
Who makes it
OpenCatio3D is made by Laan Labs, the team behind OpenPlan3D and its sibling planners: Stockpile Scan, 3D Splat App, OpenPlan3D, OpenShape3D, OpenKitchen3D, OpenSurvey3D, OpenLandscape3D, OpenWater. It shares their 3D engine and file format.
